New Patient E-Mail Service at Springfield Hospital

Are you worried that your greeting card won't make it to Springfield Hospital by mail before your friend or family member is discharged? Now you can speed delivery by sending a greeting through Springfield Hospital’s new patient e-mail service.

envelopeE-mail-A-Patient is a free service provided by Springfield Hospital volunteers for the comfort and convenience of patients and their families. “Encouraging messages can play an important role in a patient's recovery,” says Anne Miller, Volunteer Services Director.

To send a Patient Greeting, go to the hospital’s website, www.springfieldhospital.org, click on E-Mail a Patient, and follow the simple instructions. All e-mail greetings will be printed on special paper and delivered to the patient by the hospital’s Volunteer Services team. The service is provided Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

Well wishers are advised that this service is equivalent to sending a post card and does not provide privacy or confidentiality. Messages should not include personal, medical or diagnostic information. Volunteers cannot respond back for the patient, and, because of patient confidentiality, cannot confirm delivery of messages.

“This service,” says Miller, “is just one more way our volunteers make Springfield Hospital a special place.”
