We’ve all heard the phrase, “You are what you eat.” It is absolutely true. Careful thought about the quality and quantity of the foods we eat will help ensure that each meal is nutritionally balanced.

1. Reduce portion size.
2. Increase whole grains in your diet.
3. Try to eat five portions of fruits and
vegetables daily.
4. Eat fish at least twice weekly.
5. Reduce saturated fat and sugar.
6. Try to eat less salt – no more than
2 grams per day.
7. Drink plenty of water - 6 to 8 glasses
every day. Avoid sugary drinks.
8. Don’t skip breakfast. This is a good
opportunity to eat fresh fruits and grains.
