The mission of Springfield Hospital Foundation is to help Springfield Hospital to:
Fulfill its mission;
Maintain its special character, with enough resources to provide the best possible health care in the best possible way — up close and personal; and
Respond to the uncertainties of the health care field.
Glen Cordner, Springfield Hospital's former chief executive officer, concluded a presentation to the State of Vermont's Public Oversight Commission with these words: "So, while in many respects I feel we have never been better prepared to meet the challenges ahead, those challenges seem more daunting than ever. As we think about the future in strategic terms, we must build in a high degree of environmental uncertainty."
The Springfield Hospital Foundation is a buttress against that uncertainty and a springboard into the future. Its primary objective is to establish a philanthropic environment at Springfield Hospital — to encourage and reward individuals and organizations for their support.
It is this support that will help ensure that Springfield Hospital achieves its mission — now and in the future. This support can be made for a variety of reasons and in a variety of ways. A gift can:
Honor a family member or caregiver or commemorate an event.
Purchase equipment or create a program.
Be in time, energy, and effort -- in service (see Volunteer Opportunities) or in celebration (our Apple Blossom Cotillion or other special events).
Be a direct gift of cash or securities through our Annual Giving.
Be a "planned gift" through a bequest, trust, or annuity.
Because of charitable tax deductions, you can help yourself when you help Springfield Hospital. Some gifts, such as annuities, also provide you with income.
