Mammography/Breast Care
The Breast Care Center at Springfield Hospital is a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary breast care program designed to meet all breast health needs of our patients, including routine health care, breast problems, or breast cancer. We offer a full spectrum of clinical and support services from screening and diagnosis, to treatment and counseling. Please visit the Breast Care Center for more information on these services.
Bone Density
Bone Density scans are available at Springfield Hospital. A DEXA scan is a digital scanning system that is completely painless and takes just minutes to perform. Once the scan is complete, the information is immediately available to referring physicians through our electronic records system.
Everyone age 50+ should consider getting a baseline DEXA scan. For male individuals, a DEXA becomes necessary when their physician determines they have specific medical reasons for completing the scan. Typically, men do not experience an accelerated decline of density because they have testosterone hormones and do not experience menopause.
• All women over 65 should have a bone density test.
• Anyone who breaks a bone after age 50 should consider measuring their bone density.
DEXA scans are available Monday and Thursday, from 8:15 am - 3:45 pm. Each test is schedule as a 30-minute appointment. To schedule an appointment, please call 802-885-7669.
