ChildBirth Center Implements New Safety Program
Posted on 10/2/2009
SPRINGFIELD, VT — The safety and security of mothers and infants during their hospital stay is an important priority. To help ensure safety at all times, The ChildBirth Center at Springfield Hospital has a new security program in place effective Thursday, October 8th. As part of this new program, the ChildBirth Center entry will be locked for enhanced security. Visitors wishing to enter or exit to the unit will be asked to use a security button located next to the door. Upon hearing the bell, staff will respond as promptly as possible to greet visitors and welcome them to the unit.
“Implementation of this new policy is for the benefit of all mothers and babies in our care,” comments Holly Trail, RN, IBCLC, Nurse Manager of the ChildBirth Center. “We’re pleased to implement this new procedure to help keep the ChildBirth Center a safe and nurturing environment for all new families who visit,” she continues. “While our goal is certainly to provide prompt response to the bell, there may be occasional instances where delays are necessary for patient care reasons. In those instances, we appreciate the public’s patience and understanding, and invite friends or family members eagerly awaiting a new arrival or a visit to a newborn to use our new guest area located down the hall, next to the elevator, on Level D.
The ChildBirth Center at Springfield Hospital is located at 25 Ridgewood Road in Springfield, VT. It offers expectant families a range of childbirth options and welcomes hundreds of newborns each year.
