Community Education Offerings For Spring 2010

SPRINGFIELD, VT — Springfield Medical Care Systems is offering the following education classes and programs. To register or for more information, call Sandy at 885-7686.
Healthy Aging Series – Pre-Diabetes – Join us on April 13, 2010, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the Springfield Senior Center to learn about Pre-Diabetes, and whether you can prevent getting diabetes. This informational program is presented by Marcia Manner, RN, CDE, requires no registration, and is free and open to the public.
AARP Driver Safety Program will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2010, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at the VFW Robert L. Johnson Post 771 in Springfield, VT. This program improves driving skills in people age 50 and over, and helps refine existing skills while developing safe, defensive driving techniques that save lives. Participants have fewer crashes and may save on insurance premiums. Cost is $12.00 for AARP members, and $14.00 for all others. Bob Ammel, AARP Instructor.
ChildBirth Education Class - This class is being offered May 1st, June 12th, and July 10th. It is designed to prepare women and their partners for the labor and birth process. Parents are encouraged to sign up for this class 2-3 months in advance of their due date. Bring two pillows and your lunch. Cost for this class is $81.20. VT Medicaid and most private insurances will pay this fee. Classes are taught by a certified childbirth educator in the Springfield Hospital Library from 9 am - 5 pm. ###
