Looking For The Next Apple Blossom Queen
Posted on 11/5/2010
High school senior girls in the communities served by Springfield Medical Care Systems are invited to participate in the 55th annual Apple Blossom Cotillion. One of them will join the select group of Apple Blossom Queens. This special community event has become both a unique tradition and a rite of passage for area young people. Young women present themselves and perform with and without their escorts. They are also interviewed by a panel of judges
The theme for this year’s production is “Days Gone By”, featuring songs from past Cotillions. The co-directors of the 2011 Cotillion are Pam Church and Carrie Jewell, sharing the creative reins for their 7th cotillion. The master of ceremonies for the 11th consecutive year is Larry Kraft, Director of SMCS Foundation.
Weekly rehearsals start Sunday, January 2, and culminate in the crowning of the Apple Blossom Queen and her court on Saturday, May 7 at Riverside Gymnasium in Springfield.
Applications are available at www.springfieldhospital.org and at area high schools. Applications must be received by 5 pm on December 3, 2010.
